Seniors, you have a lot to do this year. You need to keep up your grades, apply to colleges, for any post secondary work before Halloween and apply for scholarships. You should work on a personal essay & accumulating community service hours and asking for letters of recommendation. If you have any questions, please see your counselor…

The following is a list of scholarships to help you guide you on your way. Clicking the links will take you directly to the websites. Many scholarships will have deadlines to apply, so pay close attention to make sure you apply and meet all deadlines.

Last day to get a portrait done will be December 1, 2011
Prestige Portraits of Lakeland by Lifetouch will be on campus, 15.00 sitting charge.

January~
• 1st – FAFSA Registration Opens
• 5th – Senior Privilege Card Holders’ Breakfast
• 28th – SAT (Register by December 30th)

February~
• 11th – ACT (Register by January 13th)
• 15th – GRAD BASH tickets go on sale (estimated cost $50-$60) through March 23rd
Students may make FULL PAYMENT (anytime) or PAYMENT PLAN (1st payment of $25 DUE on Feb 15th)
• 23rd – Senior Privilege Card Holders’ Lunch

March~
• 10th – SAT (Register by February 10th)
• 15th – GRADE BASH ticket PAYMENT PLAN (2nd payment of balance DUE)
• 21st – Graduation Announcements delivered during Lunches

• 8th – Cap & Gowns delivered during Lunches
• 17th – Academic Awards Ceremony (First Assembly of God) 6:30pm
• 23rd-24th – Seniors’ Final Exam Days
• 23rd – Night of STARS (Select Seniors)
• 24th – Seniors’ Last Day of School
• 25th – Senior Breakfast (Location TBA) 8:00am
• 29th – Bok Tower Tours (Times TBA…Seniors MUST sign-up for tour times)
• 30th – Baccalaureate Rehearsal (First Baptist Church) 8:00am-12:00pm ~ MANDATORY
• 30th – Baccalaureate (First Baptist Church) 6:30pm
• 31st – Graduation Rehearsal (Bok Tower Sanctuary) 8:00am-12:00pm ~ MANDATORY

June~
• 1st – Graduation Rehearsal (Bok Tower Sanctuary) 8:00am-12:00pm ~ MANDATORY
• 2nd – Graduation at Bok Tower Sanctuary
6:30am – Seniors load buses at LWHS to travel to Bok Tower
8:00am – Graduation Commences
• 2nd – Project Graduation (Location TBA…estimated cost $50-$60)

      Science Olympiad Competition

      The Science Olympiad team competed in their regional event on Saturday in Clearwater and were amazing. All students represented Lake Wales very well. Participants were: Parris Hall Kim Balaun Aaron Molly Kristen Ahlberg Alex Pass Erick Castillo Jocelyn Simmons Johnny Hall Becky Blackwelder Ulisez Bamaca Now to the best part. The kids competed in 21 out of the 23 events and won 7 medals. We won’t know our overall standing until later this week and this will determine whether we

      LWHS hosts 8th graders & parents on Jan. 10

      LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High School will hold a special Open House on Tuesday (Jan. 10) for parents of current 8th grade students. The 8th Grade Parent Meeting will start at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the LWHS Auditorium. Parents will learn about programs, classes and extracurricular activities. School leaders also will discuss the transition from middle school to high school. During the school day on Tuesday, 8th graders from McLaughlin Middle and Bok Academy will have a chance to

      County FFA Livestock Judging Contest

      County FFA Livestock Judging Contest Highlander Family, Yesterday the Lake Wales Senior FFA chapter competed in the Polk County FFA Crooked Lake Livestock Judging Contest. We received 2nd place out of all the high schools in Polk County! Also, Steven Powell was the number one individual in the entire contest!
