JROTC Raider Team Placed 3rd in Polk County

Over the weekend our Raider Team competed in the Area 12 Raider competition against 16 teams from Polk County. Our team placed third and we are very proud of them. They compete in five events.

8 person teams compete

Events for Competition:
One rope Bridge-they build and crawl over a rope for 40 yards during a timed event
Cross Country Rescue-They carry three ruck sacks(back packs) 30lbs each and a streacher with 120lbs over a mile course and evaluate a causualty along the way.
Push Up and Curl Up-As many as you can in 2 min
Academics-Test on first Aid and Map Reading
3 mile run-run three miles (We did a 1.5 mile run in boots)

    Science Olympiad Competition

    The Science Olympiad team competed in their regional event on Saturday in Clearwater and were amazing. All students represented Lake Wales very well. Participants were: Parris Hall Kim Balaun Aaron Molly Kristen Ahlberg Alex Pass Erick Castillo Jocelyn Simmons Johnny Hall Becky Blackwelder Ulisez Bamaca Now to the best part.     LWHS hosts 8th graders & parents on Jan. 10

    LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High School will hold a special Open House on Tuesday (Jan. 10) for parents of current 8th grade students. The 8th Grade Parent Meeting will start at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the LWHS Auditorium. Parents will learn about programs, classes and extracurricular activities. School leaders also will discuss the transition from middle school to high school. During the school day on Tuesday, 8th graders from McLaughlin Middle and Bok Academy will have a chance to

    County FFA Livestock Judging Contest

    County FFA Livestock Judging Contest Highlander Family, Yesterday the Lake Wales Senior FFA chapter competed in the Polk County FFA Crooked Lake Livestock Judging Contest. We received 2nd place out of all the high schools in Polk County! Also, Steven Powell was the number one individual in the entire contest!
