LWHS invites 8th graders, parents on Thursday

LAKE WALES – Lake Wales High will host local eighth grade students for special tours during the day on Thursday (Feb. 28), and their parents are invited to a special Open House later Thursday evening.

Eighth grade students are invited to visit the high school Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Young Leaders and other LWHS ambassadors will conduct campus tours, and the eighth graders will eat lunch in the high school cafeteria before returning to their middle schools.

“This is an annual tradition for our community,” said Principal Donna Dunson. “We know that many eighth grade students have never been inside Lake Wales High School. This gives them a chance to meet some of our student leaders and teachers, and begin to feel comfortable with the transition to high school.”

Parents of this year’s eighth grade students are invited to a special Parent Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the LWHS Auditorium. Staff members will discuss the transition to high school, and answer questions about class registration. Eighth grade students will register for high school classes in early March.
